Wow, to think it’s been 1 year since our fight with the nightmares. Things have been pretty crazy here even without you. Although you now live in the Elemental Kingdom it still feels like you’re here with us. But anyway, back to us. Things here have really changed. For starters, AJ and Vortex are now a couple. They say it all started at the celebration in honor of us defeating the nightmares. Luna keeps saying that she doesn’t like Flash but I can see the way that she looks at him. I feel like there a romance ready to bloom at any moment. All they need is a little push. How am I you may ask? Well, I’m still the same old Flare. Nothing’s changed much for me. I wouldn’t want anything to change. I have my boyfriend Shadow, I have my friends, and I have my elemental powers. What more could a girl ask for? Hope to hear from you soon. Your friend, Flare.
Flare closed her book with a sigh.She just looked at the red fire symbol on the front cover. Celestia had given Flare the book so that she would be able to communicate with Celestia in her world. She then closed her eyes and started to remember the last time she saw Celestia. It was at her coronation. Since Celestia was the older sister, she was able to be crowned Queen. On the day of her coronation all the guardians were invited, for her coronation wouldn’t have even been possible without them.
“Hey, Flare! You coming?” called Flash.
“Yeah, just a sec.” called Flare. She then slid the book into her bag and slung the strap around her shoulder. She then rushed down stairs to meet her friends. When she was at the bottom of the steps she could see all of her friends sitting in the living room. Even her boyfriend, Shadow.
“Ready to go?” asked Flash.
“Yep.” said Flare.
“This is going to be so fun.” said Luna.
As they all went outside though the back door, they all then transformed into their dragon forms and took to the skies.
“No matter how many times I do this it feels amazing every time.” said AJ.
“Yeah!” said Vortex.
“So where are we going today?” asked Flare. “I’d like to suggest we go to the Siren Kingdom. We haven’t seen Aqua in a while.”
“I’m game.” said Luna. “Uh….Flash, you want to?”
“Sure, why not.” said Flash. Aj and Vortex then nodded in reply.
“Then let’s go.” said Shadow. He then took the lead and he then led them to the underwater kingdom of the sirens. Before they went into the water however, AJ cast an air bubble spell on everybody so that they could breath underwater. They all then dived into the water and started swimming towards the Siren Kingdom.
When they had reached the palace, the guards on duty immediately let them through for the recognized the Elemental guardians when they saw them. When the six friends had finally reached the throne room, they were in for one heck of a surprise when they saw not only Aqua but also Celestia there as well.
“Celestia?!” they all exclaimed.
“Hey guys!” said Celestia.
“What are you doing here?” asked AJ.
“Oh, I’ here on royal business.” said Celestia.
“What kind of royal business?” asked Flash.
“The water levels in the kingdom are at an all time low and most of the sea life are already gone.” said Celestia.
“Celestia has asked me to take in the sea creatures of the Elemental Kingdom while she tries to figure out the water levels.” said Aqua.
“You know you could have always just come to me.” said AJ. “I am the guardian of water after all.”
“Right, infact I was going to come and find you after I was done here.” said Celestia. “I just wanted to make sure that the sea creatures were safe first.”
“That’s understandable.” said AJ.
“It’s good to see you though.” said Flare.
“Same here.” said Celestia.
“Might I ask what you all are doing here?” asked Aqua.
“Oh, we just wanted to give you a visit.” said Luna.
“You know since it’s the last day of summer vacation.” said Vortex.
“Really?” said Celestia.
“Yeah, we go back to school tomorrow.” said Flare. “And for once in my life I’m actually excited to go back to school.”
“Well that’s a first.” said Flash. Flare then growled at him.
“So Aqua, how have you been?” asked Flare.
“i have been just excellent ever since you all saved the worlds from the nightmares.” said Aqua. “With your permission I’d like to give you something as a gift for saving us.” She then waved her trident in the air and made five pearls appear. Each pearl was a different color. One was red, another was blue, one, purple, one yellow, and the last was grey. They each the floated over to the guardian whose necklace matched the color of the pearl.
“What are these?” asked Flare.
“These pearls will allow each of you to transform into our kind whenever you visit here.” said Aqua.
“Thank you.” said Flare.
“Anything for the guardians.” said Aqua.
“Well, I should be getting back to the kingdom.” said Celestia.
“Can we come?” asked Luna.
“Sure, why not.” said Celestia. She then turned to Aqua. “Aqua, if you’d please?”
“Of course.” said Aqua. She then raised her trident in the air and Celestia raised one of her hands into the air. Celestia’s necklace then began to glow, so did Aqua’s trident. The glows then merged and opened up a portal to the Elemental Kingdom.
“Shall we?” said Celestia, motioning towards the portal. The guardians and Shadow then followed Celestia through the portal.
When they were through the portal, they found themselves in the castle on a balcony that was connected to the throne room. In the throne room sat the gold and silver thrones of Celestia and Lunara. Behind them hung a banner of Aurora. They then saw someone walk into the throne room. She had on a long black dress with dark blue ribbons around her waist. She had long black hair similar to Celestia’s. Atop her head was a silver crown. As she was walking a book could be seen in her hands.
“Lunara!” exclaimed Flare. Lunara then looked up from her book. A smile then appeared on her face when she saw who was there.
“Flare!” exclaimed Lunara. She then ran over to everybody. “What are you all doing here?”
“We decided to come and visit.” said AJ.
“Actually, I saw them when I went to the Siren Kingdom so they decided to come back with me.” said Celestia.
“Well anyhow, it’s good to see you all.” said Lunara.
“So, anything new?” asked Flare.
“Actually yes.” said Lunara. “This is the year of the Dragon Festival!”
“Dragon Festival?” said Luna, confused.
“The Dragon Festival is when we honor the the dragons that used to protect us before the first Elementals guardians were even born.” said Celestia.
“It is said that the one who trained the first Elemental guardians fused a little bit of the dragon spirit with the first guardians which gave them the power to transform into their dragon forms.” said Shadow.
“The dragons must be still alive for you all are still able to use your powers and transform.” said Celestia.
“That is so awesome!” exclaimed Luna.
“Have any of you actually seen the dragons?” asked Flash.
“The three of us have never seen the dragons or even our dragons for that matter.” said Celestia.
“Your dragons?” said AJ, confused.
“Just like there are dragons for each of your elements we too also have dragons for our elements.” said Celestia.
“Although technically me and Shadow share a dragon.” said Lunara.
“Has anyone ever seen the dragons?” asked Flare.
“I have.” said a voice. They all then turned to see Aurora standing behind Lunara.
“You have?” said Vortex.
“Certainly.” said Aurora. “After all, I am the one that merged the spirits of the dragons with the first elemental guardians.”
“Wait, so that means….” said Flare.
“You know where the dragons are right now!” said Flash.
“Indeed.” said Aurora.
“So if something ever happens to the dragons….” said Luna.
“Your powers would be no more.” said Aurora.
“That’s kind of scary when you think about it.” said AJ.
“Well the dragons must be alive and well because we still have our powers!” said Vortex. He then transformed his arm into a metal sword to show off. AJ then started laughing.
“This festival only happens once every hundred years.” said Lunara.
“We’ve been so excited to finally be apart of the Dragon Festival.” said Celestia. “And of course you guys are invited too.”
“We are?” said Flare.
“But of course. You are the Elemental guardians after all.” said Lunara.
“Right.” said Flare. She then pulled out her phone to check the time. “It’s getting late. We should probably be getting back. We need to be up early for school.” Celestia and Lunara then opened up a portal back to earth.
That night, Flare had yet another dream about Fire. Lately Flare had been having dreams that seemed to be memories of the first fire guardian, Fire. This time is was when Fire met the dragon of fire. The dragon had scales that looked like flames when they were in the sunlight. Suddenly, the dragon let out a loud roar and then lifted its sharp talons. They then slashed at Fire and she let out a scream of pain.
Flare awoke with a jolt. She then started rubbing her eyes. She then looked over at her clock. It read 6:00am. Flare then slid the covers off her and sat on the edge of her bed. She then stretched out her arms and got up. First she got on her favorite black sleeveless dress that had sashes of yellow around her waist. Hanging from her neck was her elemental fire necklace. Flare then brushed out her long brown hair and then put it up in a ponytail. Flare then went down stairs to the kitchen to get breakfast. She decided to have a bowl of cereal. When she was done eating, she then went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Flare then looked at herself in the mirror for the first time and she gasped. She almost choked on her toothpaste. She then spit out the toothpaste in her mouth and looked at herself in the mirror again. Instead of her normal eyes, she had her dragon eyes.
“Flash!” screamed Flare. The door then flung open and Flash was suddenly standing in the doorway.
“What?!” exclaimed Flash. “What happened?!”
“Something’s wrong!” exclaimed Flare. Flash then gasped as she turned to face him. She had her dragon eyes.
“What happened to your eyes?” asked Flash.
“I don’t know what happened!” exclaimed Flare. “I just want them to go away!”
“Well I don’t know what to do!” said Flash. “Maybe Shadow can help.”
“I hope so.” said Flare. “But I can’t go to school with my eyes like this!”
“Just put some glasses on or something.” said Flash.
When the two of them then got to school, Flare found AJ, Vortex, and Shadow in her first hour class. Flare then rushed over to them.
“Hey Flare, what with the glasses?” asked Vortex. Flare just growled at him. She then turned her attention to Shadow.
“I need your help.” said Flare.
“Why? What’s wrong?” asked Shadow.
“It’s my eyes.” said Flare. She then slowly pulled the glasses away from her face. The three of them then gasped. “They’re stuck in their dragon form and won’t go away!”
“Well, have you tried transforming them back?” asked AJ.
“Yes, but I just woke up this morning and they were like this!” said Flare.
“How could this have happened?” asked Vortex.
“I don’t know!” exclaimed Flare. She was now starting to panic.
“Hey, the best thing to do right now is not panic.” said Shadow. “We can always just ask Celestia how to change them back. Don’t you have the book that she gave you?” Flare then started to calm down a little bit.
“Of course I have it.” said Flare. She then pulled the book out of her bag. “I never go anywhere without it anymore.”
“Class, please have a seat.” said the teacher.
“We can talk more at lunch.” whispered AJ.
“But in the meantime….” said Shadow. He then picked up Flare’s glasses and gave them back to her. “I think it would be best to keep these on.” Flare then placed her glasses back on her face. She did her best to concentrate until lunch but she couldn’t. All she could think about was her eyes. What was going on? Why had her eyes suddenly transformed on their own? Were they going to be stuck like this? There were so many questions that Flare wanted to ask but she had to wait until lunch to do so.
After four long classes, it was finally time for lunch. Flare sat with her five friends. She explained to them her situation with her eyes.
“Are they stuck like that?” asked Luna.
“I don’t know. I don’t even know how to change them back!” said Flare.
“Well like I said, try asking Celestia.” said Shadow. “She might at least know how to change them back.”
“I wrote to her during third hour when I had choir but she still hasn’t written back yet.” said Flare.
A little while latter into the day, school was finally over. Flare went with AJ and Luna to her locker.
“Still no answer?” asked AJ. Flare just shook her head.
“I’ve sent her five messages and she still doesn’t respond.” said Flare.
“You have to remember that she the queen of the Elemental Kingdom. She can’t just drop everything and come help us with a small problem like this.” said Luna.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” said Flare. She then closed her locker and the three of them then started to make their way to the exit. Waiting for them were the boys.
“Ready to go?’ asked Shadow.
“Yeah, I just hope Celestia can fix my eyes.” said Flare.
“We probably shouldn’t open a portal here.” said Flash. “Somebody might see us.”
“I say we open a portal at the temple.” said Vortex. “That way we’ll be sure no one will see us.”
“Oh, can we fly to the temple?!” exclaimed Luna.
“We’d have to hide somewhere to transform.” said Flash.
“We can always go to the back of the school.” said AJ.
“Let’s go.” said Vortex. They all then went to the back of the school to transform into their dragon forms. In waves of light they all transformed. All except Flare.
“What’s wrong?” asked Flash.
“I….I can’t transform!” gasped Flare.
“What?!” exclaimed AJ.
“It’s not working!’ exclaimed Flare.
“We can’t stay here much longer.” said Vortex. “Someone might see us.”
“Well how am I going to get to the temple with you guys?” asked Flare.
Suddenly a door from the school started to open. They all then took to the skies. Flare had closed her eyes as the door started to open. When she opened them, she saw that she was millions of feet above the ground. She looked up to see that she was in Shadow’s arms.
“Nice save.” said Flare. Shadow just smiled at her in return.
When they all got to the temple, they were surprised to see Celestia and Lunara standing there.
“What are you two doing here?” asked Vortex.
“I came as soon as I heard about what happened.” said Celestia. She then rushed over to Flare just as Shadow was putting her down. She took off the glasses and stared in confusion. “How did this happen?” asked Celestia.
“I don’t know.” said Flare. “I just woke up this morning and they were like this.”
“Do you know what going on?” asked AJ.
“No, I’m sorry.” said Celestia.
“Do you at least know how to change them back?” asked Flare.
“No….” said Celestia.
“Wait a minute….” said Shadow. “Didn’t you say that whatever happens to the elemental dragons also happens to them.”
“Yes.” said Celestia. “Wait, you don’t think?”
“You know it could be possible.” said Lunara.
“Then we need to find the fire dragon now!” said Celestia.
“Then let’s go!” said Flare. Celestia and Lunara then opened up a portal to their world. When they were all through they found themselves in the palace.
“Aurora!” called Celestia. In a flash of pink light, Aurora suddenly appeared. Celestia was about to speak when Aurora lifted her hand to silence her.
“I know the fire dragon is in danger.” said Aurora. “Yesterday, these people came to me demanding that I tell them the location of the elemental dragons. When I refused them what they seeked they attacked. They had used some sort of spell that knocked me out. When I had come to I found that they had stolen the scales that I use to know the locations of the elemental dragons.”
“What did they look like?” asked Vortex. Aurora then turned and waved her hand in front of her and five figures suddenly appeared. Two males and one female. The girl had short black hair tied back in a ponytail and she had white at the tips of her bangs which came down over her left eye. She had a scar on her right eye. She wore a brown leather like strapless top and she had on long black pants with a bright blood red belt with a dragon tooth at the waist. It could be seen that the two boys were twins for everything about them was the same. The only difference was that one had black hair with white tipped bangs and the other had white hair with black tipped bangs.
“Who are they?” asked Luna.
“The Dragon Slayers.” said Lunara.
“The who?” said Flash.
“The Dragon Slayers were a group of people that killed for pleasure.” said Shadow.
“When the nightmares took control of me I went to them and asked them to join me.” said Lunara. “I tried to convince them by telling them about the Elemental dragons but what I didn’t tell them was how to find them.” Lunara then tried to blink her tears away. “I guess they found that part out on their own.
“The leader of the three of them is Alex.” said Shadow motioning to the girl. “The other two are her little flunkies, Zach and Max.”
“Well why did only the three of them attack?” asked Vortex.
“These are all that’s left of the Dragon Slayers.” said Aurora.
“How can you tell?” asked Luna.
“I could feel that these three possessed a strange aura that I had never felt before.” said Aurora. “Judging by how weak it was I can but assume that they are all that’s left. To my knowledge, most of them left the Dragon Slayers when the nightmares were defeated.”
“So if what you say is true then that must mean that they’re now going after the dragon of fire.” said Flash.
“That must be why my eyes are stuck like this.” said Flare. “And even though I can’t transform at least I can still use my powers.”
“Yeah, but I don’t know how much longer you can.” said Lunara.
“What do you mean?” asked AJ.
“Well, like we said before if something happens to the elemental dragons, we’re also affected which means if something happens to them we might not have our powers anymore.” said Lunara.
“Then we better hurry and find the dragon of fire!” said Vortex.
“But how are we even going to find it?” said Luna. “We don’t even know where to find this fire dragon.”
“Actually you do have a way to find each of your Elemental Dragons.” said Aurora.
“Really?” said Flash.
“The reason you all can transform into a dragon form is because each of you is connected to your own dragon.” said Aurora. She then turned to face Flare. “The power to find the Elemental dragon of fire is inside of you. You just need to feel it.” Flare then nodded and closed her eyes. She then grabbed her necklace.
“Come on.” Flare said to herself. “I know you’re out there.” her necklace then started to glow in a bright red. Flare then started to hear a roar but it was soft. Flare then started to feel some sort of pain. “I can feel that you’re in pain, and I want to help. I just need you to tell me where you are so I can save you.” Flare’s eyes then flashed open. A white spark then flashed in Flare’s eyes. “I know where to go.” said Flare.
“Okay; me, Lunara and Aurora will stay here while you six go find the fire dragon.” said Celestia. Everyone then nodded and the six friends then took to the skies. Shadow carried Flare while she pointed the way.
Two hours latter, the six of them were starting to come to a mountain.
“Man, it feels like we’ve been flying forever.” said Luna. “Are we even getting close?” Flare then looked down at her necklace as it then started to glow.
“Yeah, I think so.” said Flash.
“There!’ exclaimed Flare as she pointed to the mountain.
“Really?” said Luna. “Okay.” They all then turned and started circling the mountain to find a place to land. They then came across a flat part on a cliff and decided to land there. “Well, where to now?” asked Luna. Flare then looked down at her necklace as it then started to lift up in front of her. It was almost as if it wanted her to follow it. Flare then grabbed the chain as her necklace then started pulling her.
“It’s this way.” said Flare. She then pointed down a path along the side of the mountain. Everyone then nodded and ran after Flare as she and her necklace led the way.
As they were running down the path they then suddenly heard a loud roar.
“That sounded like….” said Flash.
“A dragon!” gasped Flare. They then started running down the path once again until they suddenly came to a clearing. In the clearing were three people, two boys and one girl, and they seemed to be trying to trap this creature. Flare then gasped as she saw that the creature they were trying to trap was a dragon.
“More ropes!” exclaimed the girl.
“Yes ma’am!” said one of the boys. He then made more ropes appear out of nowhere and wrap around the dragon.
“Arg, hey Zach!” called the girl. “We need to tranquilize this thing now!” The white haired boy then made a bow and arrow appear in his hands.
“With pleasure.” said Zach. He then lifted his bow and drew back the arrow. He then let go of the arrow as it flew through the air aimed right at the big red dragon. It was just about to hit when suddenly a bright red fire shield appeared in the way of the arrow. When the arrow hit the shield it instantly disappeared. “What?!” gasped Zach..
“What going on?!” yelled the girl. “I thought I told you to tranq it!”
“It’s not my fault!” exclaimed Zach. The dragon then let out a loud roar. The girl and the second boy then leaped into the air to stand beside Zach. The girl then looked down at the fire shield in front of them.
“Where did that come from?!” demanded the girl.
A blast of lightning then came out of nowhere and caused the three of them to move backwards. The girl then looked up just in time to see four people come to fly in front of the fire shield. They all had dragon wings. Somebody then stepped out to stand in front of the three of them. The girl then looked closely at the necklace around her neck. The girl then laughed as she got back to her feet.
“So, the Elemental guardians.” said the girl. “I was wondering when you were going to show up.”
“Stop whatever it is that you’re doing and hand over the dragon scales!” demanded Flare.
“Oh please.” said the girl. She then made a black scythe appear in her hands. “Like I would ever do that.” She then rushed at Flare and lifted the scythe to strike. A dark figure then appeared and created a shield of darkness to protect Flare. “What?!” gasped the girl. The shield then disappeared and the figure stood up.
“Thanks Shadow.” said Flare.
“Shadow?!” gasped the girl. The girl then smiled evilly. “You know. To be honest it’s kind of good to see you again.” said the girl.
“The feeling isn’t mutual.” said Shadow. “Alex.”
“Humph, now if you’ll excuse me I have a dragon to slay.” said Alex.
“No you don’t!” exclaimed Flare.
“Aw, the guardian of fire.” said Alex. “It’s been a while, did something change. You seem to look different.” said Alex sarcastically. Flare just tensed up even more. Her friends then flew to hover beside her and Shadow. “And the other Elemental guardians how wonderful.” said Alex. “You know, I’ve always wondered what would happen if something happened to the Elemental dragons.” Alex then turned to the second boy with black hair. “Max, why don’t you show them.”
“With pleasure.” said Max. He then made a black sword appear in his hand. He then leaped into the air and landed on top of the dragon. He then lifted the sword ready to plunge it into the giant body of the beast. He then let out a cry and gripped his hand as a bolt of lightning hit his hand causing his sword to vanish.
“Not while we’re here.” said Flash. He then appeared in the air in front of Max along with Luna, AJ, and Vortex.
“Well, this is going to be interesting.” said Max. Zach then appeared beside him.
“Shall we?” asked Zach. Max then nodded and the two of them made swords appear in their hands and they then attacked the guardians.
Meanwhile, Flare and Shadow were battling it out with Alex. She swung at them with her scythe but the were able to dodge it every time but she could tell that they were slowing down.
“You can’t keep dodging forever!” exclaimed Alex. She still continued to swing at them “It’s only a matter of time until….” She let out a cry of pain as she was then struck in the back by a blast of fire mixed with darkness. As her scythe hit the ground it vanished. As she tried to catch her breath she then looked up to see Flare and Shadow moving towards her. She pulled out the scale of the dragon that she had stolen from Aurora. “One more step and I destroy it.” said Alex. Shadow then held out his arm to stop Flare.
“So what, it’s just one scale.” said Flare. “The dragon has plenty of them.”
“That may be so but have you ever wondered why Aurora kept this specific scale.” said Alex. Flare just stood there confused, but Shadow knew exactly why Aurora protected this specific scale. “That because she enchanted it.” said Alex. “The enchantment on this scale turns it into a heart for not only the Elemental dragon that it belongs to but also the Elemental guardian of that dragon.” She then started applying pressure on the scale. As she did, the dragon let out a loud roar of pain. Flare also let out a sharp cry of pain. She then started to fall to the ground but before she could hit the ground Shadow caught her.
“Flare!” exclaimed Shadow. He then turned to Alex. She still had an evil smile on her face. “Stop it!” demanded Shadow.
“Why? Why would I stop now when I am so close to finally bringing down the Elemental guardians?” said Alex. “I’ve been searching for a way to destroy them and now I found a way to not only destroy them but to wipe them out of existence!”
“What?!” gasped Shadow.
“You really don’t know, do you?” said Alex. “If the Elemental dragon is destroyed then so is the Elemental gem of that guardian and then that guardian will cease to exist.” She then started to crush the scale even more. Flare and the dragon then let out cries of pain yet again. Alex continued to crush the scale when suddenly a blast of water shot her in the back causing her to drop the scale. A gust of wind then lifted the scale up into the air. Luna then flew by and caught the scale.
“That seemed almost too close for comfort.” said Luna. She and AJ then flew down to Flare and Shadow. “You okay?”
“Yeah, I think so.” said Flare as Shadow helped her back to her feet. “Where are the boys?”
“They’re keeping their eyes on those other two.” said Luna. “You know I really think you should have this.” She then started to hand the red dragon scale to Flare when suddenly Alex come at her from behind. Alex uses her scythe to drag Luna backwards. The scale was then flung up into the air. Flare jumped up into the air to catch the scale but Ale now had her friend. She looked to see that Alex now had her scythe against Luna’s throat.
“Let her go!” said Flare.
“Humph, you want to know what great about you all being half dragon?” said Alex. She then started to press in the spot where Luna’s wings were attached to her back. Alex then let go of Luna and she fell to the ground unconcious. The three friends then gasped. “You gain the same weak spots as actual dragons.” said Alex. AJ and Shadow then started running at Alex as she started walking towards them. Alex was then able to mavuver around them and hit the same spot between their wings and they fell to the ground unconcious. She then started making her way towards Flare.
“Wha….what ever you did to them you can’t do to me.” said Flare. “I can’t transform so there’s now weak point that you can use.”
“That may be true but there’s other ways to persuade you to hand that scale over.” said Alex. She then snapped her fingers and Zach and Max appeared on either side of her. In each of their hands were Flash and Vortex, unconcious.
“No!’ gasped Flare. She then gripped the scale even tighter as the three of them moved closer to her.
They kept moving towards Flare but she just kept backing away from them until eventually she ran out of cliff. She looked behind her and all that was there was a straight drop down below.
“Nowhere to go.” said Alex. “So just hand it over and I’ll make it as quick and painless as possible.”
“Why would I do that if it’ll only lead to my own death.” said Flare.
“You’re going to die either way the choice is that you can either die quickly or painfully.” said Alex.
She then took one more step towards Flare. Flare forgot that she was at the edge of the cliff and when she she took a step backwards she fell off the cliff. Flare was able to grab the edge of the cliff but standing above her was Alex. Alex then slammed her foot on the hand that Flare had on the cliff. Flare felt a stab of pain travel through her but she did her best not to let it show.
“Last chance.” said Alex. “Give me the scale.”
“Never!” groaned Flare.
“Suit yourself.” said Alex. She then used her foot to push Flare off the cliff. Flare then let out a scream as she plummeted to her death. Flare then started to clutch the red scale close to her heart as she fell.
“Please.” said Flare. She then closed her eyes. “Somebody help me. I beg of you.”
Her necklace then started to glow. Flare then felt herself hit something but it wasn’t the ground. Flare then opened her eyes and saw that she was on the back of a red fiery dragon. Flare couldn’t believe her eyes. Her Elemental dragon had saved her. As the dragon flew through the air it then looked back at Flare. The two of them were eye to eye.
“Thank you.” said Flare.
The dragon must have understood her for the dragon then bowed its head. Flare’s necklace then began to glow. The light then consumed Flare. When the light had faded Flare was now in her dragon form. Flare gasped when she saw herself. She then used her wings and started flying herself. She then flew to the front of her dragon. Flare and her dragon were now just staring at eachother.
“Thank you.” said Flare. “For everything.” The dragon then nudged Flare with it’s nose. Flare then hesitated at first but then placed a hand on the dragon and started to pet it. Its scales were like a snake’s but thicker. Flare laughed.
The dragon then moved away just as an arrow shot between it and Flare. Flare then turned her attention back to the cliff side. Zach had his bow aimed right at Flare and the dragon. Alex and Max were standing on either side of him.
“What are you waiting for?!” yelled Alex. “Shoot them down and get that scale!” Zach then shot another arrow aimed at the dragon. Flare then flew in front of the dragon and create a fire shield.
“I won’t let you hurt anyone!” exclaimed Flare. “Now let’s see how good my archery skills are!” A fiery bow then appeared in Flare’s outstretched hands. A arrow of fire then appeared. Flare aimed it right at the three dragon slayers. The three of them then leaped out of the way.
“Okay, now it’s my turn!” growled Alex. She then closed her eyes to concentrate. “Sword of dragon’s blood, I summon thee!” A bright red sword then appeared in the air above Alex.
“Uh-oh!” said both Max and Zach. The two of them then jumped behind a rock for cover. Alex then let out a yell as the red sword started flying through the air right at Flare.
Flare then created a fire shield to block the sword but the sword just went right through it. Flare then braced herself for the impact when suddenly the dragon let out a huge roar. Fire then shot from the mouth of the dragon at the bright blood sword and it then vanished into thin air.
“What?!” gasped Alex.
“Thank you.” said Flare. “Please, can you help me?” The dragon then let out roar. “I’ll take that as a yes.” The two of them then flew into action. While the dragon handled Alex and her multiple weapons, Flare went to help her friends.
She knelt down beside AJ.
“AJ?” said Flare. “AJ, please….wake up.” Flare then looked down at her necklace. She then realized how to wake her friends up. She then held her hands over her friend and closed her eyes. Her necklace then started to glow. AJ’s did the same. After a few seconds, AJ awoke with a gasp. She then sat up and turned to Flare.
“Flare?” whispered AJ.
“You’re okay!” exclaimed Flare. She then leaped at AJ and hugged her. “I thought you were done for.”
“Flare, you….you can transform again!” gasped AJ.
“My dragon helped me.” said Flare. She then pointed to the big red dragon that was battling with Alex. “Come on let’s help the others.” AJ then nodded and the two of them then started helping their other friends. Flare went to Shadow and Flash while AJ went to Vortex and Luna.
“What happened?” moaned Luna.
“What’s going on?” asked Flash.
“There’s no time to explain but we need to get out of here.” said Flare. They all then turned their attention to the bottom of the cliff as they heard a huge crash. Flare then started to feel a sharp pain in her side.
“What wrong?” asked Luna.
“Look!” called Vortex. At the bottom of the cliff was the fire dragon laying on its side. ALex was standing on top of it with her syth.
“Now to end this!” exclaimed Alex. She then started to lift her syth when suddenly a ball of flames hit the blade. Alex then saw Flare and her friends hovering in front of her. “How did you….you’re supposed to be dead!” exclaimed Alex.
“I guess you underestimated us.” said Flare. “Now, stop this and give us back the scales!”
“You really think I’ll just hand them over that easily?” said Alex. “You half monsters are so dense.” Alex then let out a yell that set off a energy blast that sent Flare and her friends flying against the face of the cliff. As the slid to the ground Alex jumped off the back of the dragon. She then started walking towards Flare. “If I kill the dragon I also kill you but I can’t kill the dragon with you here so….” said Alex. She then raised her syth. As Flare looked up she could see Alex standing before her with her syth raised ready to attack. “I guess I’m going to have to kill you first!” She then started to bring her syth down on Flare when suddenly Alex was thrown to the top of the cliff. Flare then saw what had thrown Alex. It was her dragon. It had thrown Alex with its tail. Flare then ran up to her dragon.
“Thank you for saving me.” said Flare. “Now, let’s defeat this dragon slayer together.” The dragon then nodded and the two of them then flew up into the air.
As Alex pushed herself to her feet, she saw Flare and the dragon flying up into the air. She then growled in anger.
“Ready?” asked Flare. The dragon then let out a small roar. “Now!” exclaimed Flare. Flare’s necklace then started to glow. The dragons red wings then did the same. So did Flare’s wings. The two were then consumed in a fiery light.
“No!” exclaimed Alex.
“Fire Dragon Energy!” yelled Flare. She then launched a big ball of fire straight at Alex.
“What do we do?” asked Zach and Max from behind the rock that they were using to hide.
“Use the fangs.” said Alex. She then removed the with dragon fange that was attached to her red sash at her waist. Zach and Max then removed the fangs from their cloaks. The three of them then lifted them into the air and they were then surrounded in a bright white light. The blast then hit and the whole top of the cliff became covered in fire.
When the fire had finally disappeared, Alex and the twins were gone.
“Where did they go?” asked AJ.
“Wherever they are, at least we saved one of the scales.” said Flare as she and her dragon landed. Flare then turned to her dragon with a smile. “You were a big help but I just glad that you’re now safe.” said Flare. “She can’t hurt you anymore.” The dragon the nudged Flare with its nose to signal thank you. Flare just laughed in delight.
“Wow!” gasped Shadow. “So this is one of the great Elemental Dragons!”
“Is it friendly?” asked AJ. She jumped as she dragon then huffed.
“Of course it is.” said Flare. Her necklace then started to glow and then an aura passed from the necklace to the dragon.
“What’s going on?” asked Luna.
“I don’t know.” said Flare. The aura then disappeared.
“Thank you for protecting me.” the dragon said in a female voice.
“Wha!” screamed Flare. “You….you can talk?”
“Only because of you.” said the dragon. “When you shared your flame with me it granted us the power to understand each other.”
“Might I ask what your name is?” asked Flare.
“My name is Flame.” said the dragon. “I want to thank not only Flare but all of you for saving me from the Dragon Slayers.” Flare then remembered the dragon scale.
“You know, I feel like you should be the one to have this.” said Flare.
She then handed the scale to Flame. Flame then turned so that her side was facing the guardians. Flare then stepped forward and suddenly the scale then started to glow. It then started levitating in the air and it started floating to Flame. The scale then embedded itself among Flame’s other scales.
“You sure it will be fine with you?” asked Flare.
“I promise you, I will protect it with my life.” said Flame.
Everyone then said their goodbyes and they then flew back to the Elemental castle.
“Oh, thank goodness you’re alright!” exclaimed Celestia. “I was starting to get worried.”
“We’re fine.” said Flare.
“And the Elemental Dragon?” asked Aurora. “Is she safe?”
“Don’t worry, Flame is perfectly fine.” said Flare.
“Flame?” asked Aurora.
“Yeah, that’s her name.” said Flare.
“She told us.” said Luna.
“Wait, the dragon spoke to you?!” exclaimed Aurora.
“Yeah, don’t they all do that for you?” asked AJ.
“No….I….” said Aurora. She then took a deep breath. “I’m just so happy to hear that my friend is safe.”
“What about the Dragon Slayers?” asked Lunara.
“Unfortunately they got away.” said Flash.
“But don’t worry.” said Flare. “Wherever they strike next, we’ll be there to stop them.” Everyone then nodded.
That night, everyone had gone back to their homes to sleep. Meanwhile, Aurora met with Celestia in the Elemental Kingdom.
“I get the feeling that these new guardians have a deeper connection with the Elemental Dragon than that of the first guardians.” said Aurora.
“Really?” said Celestia.
“From what Flare told us. She was able to connect with Flame and cast a spell called Fire Dragon Energy.” said Aurora.
“Yes, she said that for a moment it felt like she and Flame had somehow become one.” said Celestia.
“I get the feeling that this connection might be dangerous for them.” said Aurora. “I fear that if they stay together for too long then they will become one forever.”
“Well, so far it’s only happened once so for now we shouldn’t worry about it.” said Celestia. “The dragon slayers are still a threat an as of right now the only ones that can stop them are the Elemental Guardians. They have enough to worry about right now. We shouldn’t burden them with this.”
“As you wish, but we should still keep an eye on them if my theory starts to be proven true.” said Aurora. Celestia then nodded and Aurora left. Celestia just stood there on the balcony looking out over the kingdom. She then looked to the balcony of the North Tower where her sister was raising the moon into the night sky. She then turned to look up at the night sky. She could see all the stars. Celestia then sighed.
“Please not let me lose them again.” whispered Celestia.
Flare closed her book with a sigh.She just looked at the red fire symbol on the front cover. Celestia had given Flare the book so that she would be able to communicate with Celestia in her world. She then closed her eyes and started to remember the last time she saw Celestia. It was at her coronation. Since Celestia was the older sister, she was able to be crowned Queen. On the day of her coronation all the guardians were invited, for her coronation wouldn’t have even been possible without them.
“Hey, Flare! You coming?” called Flash.
“Yeah, just a sec.” called Flare. She then slid the book into her bag and slung the strap around her shoulder. She then rushed down stairs to meet her friends. When she was at the bottom of the steps she could see all of her friends sitting in the living room. Even her boyfriend, Shadow.
“Ready to go?” asked Flash.
“Yep.” said Flare.
“This is going to be so fun.” said Luna.
As they all went outside though the back door, they all then transformed into their dragon forms and took to the skies.
“No matter how many times I do this it feels amazing every time.” said AJ.
“Yeah!” said Vortex.
“So where are we going today?” asked Flare. “I’d like to suggest we go to the Siren Kingdom. We haven’t seen Aqua in a while.”
“I’m game.” said Luna. “Uh….Flash, you want to?”
“Sure, why not.” said Flash. Aj and Vortex then nodded in reply.
“Then let’s go.” said Shadow. He then took the lead and he then led them to the underwater kingdom of the sirens. Before they went into the water however, AJ cast an air bubble spell on everybody so that they could breath underwater. They all then dived into the water and started swimming towards the Siren Kingdom.
When they had reached the palace, the guards on duty immediately let them through for the recognized the Elemental guardians when they saw them. When the six friends had finally reached the throne room, they were in for one heck of a surprise when they saw not only Aqua but also Celestia there as well.
“Celestia?!” they all exclaimed.
“Hey guys!” said Celestia.
“What are you doing here?” asked AJ.
“Oh, I’ here on royal business.” said Celestia.
“What kind of royal business?” asked Flash.
“The water levels in the kingdom are at an all time low and most of the sea life are already gone.” said Celestia.
“Celestia has asked me to take in the sea creatures of the Elemental Kingdom while she tries to figure out the water levels.” said Aqua.
“You know you could have always just come to me.” said AJ. “I am the guardian of water after all.”
“Right, infact I was going to come and find you after I was done here.” said Celestia. “I just wanted to make sure that the sea creatures were safe first.”
“That’s understandable.” said AJ.
“It’s good to see you though.” said Flare.
“Same here.” said Celestia.
“Might I ask what you all are doing here?” asked Aqua.
“Oh, we just wanted to give you a visit.” said Luna.
“You know since it’s the last day of summer vacation.” said Vortex.
“Really?” said Celestia.
“Yeah, we go back to school tomorrow.” said Flare. “And for once in my life I’m actually excited to go back to school.”
“Well that’s a first.” said Flash. Flare then growled at him.
“So Aqua, how have you been?” asked Flare.
“i have been just excellent ever since you all saved the worlds from the nightmares.” said Aqua. “With your permission I’d like to give you something as a gift for saving us.” She then waved her trident in the air and made five pearls appear. Each pearl was a different color. One was red, another was blue, one, purple, one yellow, and the last was grey. They each the floated over to the guardian whose necklace matched the color of the pearl.
“What are these?” asked Flare.
“These pearls will allow each of you to transform into our kind whenever you visit here.” said Aqua.
“Thank you.” said Flare.
“Anything for the guardians.” said Aqua.
“Well, I should be getting back to the kingdom.” said Celestia.
“Can we come?” asked Luna.
“Sure, why not.” said Celestia. She then turned to Aqua. “Aqua, if you’d please?”
“Of course.” said Aqua. She then raised her trident in the air and Celestia raised one of her hands into the air. Celestia’s necklace then began to glow, so did Aqua’s trident. The glows then merged and opened up a portal to the Elemental Kingdom.
“Shall we?” said Celestia, motioning towards the portal. The guardians and Shadow then followed Celestia through the portal.
When they were through the portal, they found themselves in the castle on a balcony that was connected to the throne room. In the throne room sat the gold and silver thrones of Celestia and Lunara. Behind them hung a banner of Aurora. They then saw someone walk into the throne room. She had on a long black dress with dark blue ribbons around her waist. She had long black hair similar to Celestia’s. Atop her head was a silver crown. As she was walking a book could be seen in her hands.
“Lunara!” exclaimed Flare. Lunara then looked up from her book. A smile then appeared on her face when she saw who was there.
“Flare!” exclaimed Lunara. She then ran over to everybody. “What are you all doing here?”
“We decided to come and visit.” said AJ.
“Actually, I saw them when I went to the Siren Kingdom so they decided to come back with me.” said Celestia.
“Well anyhow, it’s good to see you all.” said Lunara.
“So, anything new?” asked Flare.
“Actually yes.” said Lunara. “This is the year of the Dragon Festival!”
“Dragon Festival?” said Luna, confused.
“The Dragon Festival is when we honor the the dragons that used to protect us before the first Elementals guardians were even born.” said Celestia.
“It is said that the one who trained the first Elemental guardians fused a little bit of the dragon spirit with the first guardians which gave them the power to transform into their dragon forms.” said Shadow.
“The dragons must be still alive for you all are still able to use your powers and transform.” said Celestia.
“That is so awesome!” exclaimed Luna.
“Have any of you actually seen the dragons?” asked Flash.
“The three of us have never seen the dragons or even our dragons for that matter.” said Celestia.
“Your dragons?” said AJ, confused.
“Just like there are dragons for each of your elements we too also have dragons for our elements.” said Celestia.
“Although technically me and Shadow share a dragon.” said Lunara.
“Has anyone ever seen the dragons?” asked Flare.
“I have.” said a voice. They all then turned to see Aurora standing behind Lunara.
“You have?” said Vortex.
“Certainly.” said Aurora. “After all, I am the one that merged the spirits of the dragons with the first elemental guardians.”
“Wait, so that means….” said Flare.
“You know where the dragons are right now!” said Flash.
“Indeed.” said Aurora.
“So if something ever happens to the dragons….” said Luna.
“Your powers would be no more.” said Aurora.
“That’s kind of scary when you think about it.” said AJ.
“Well the dragons must be alive and well because we still have our powers!” said Vortex. He then transformed his arm into a metal sword to show off. AJ then started laughing.
“This festival only happens once every hundred years.” said Lunara.
“We’ve been so excited to finally be apart of the Dragon Festival.” said Celestia. “And of course you guys are invited too.”
“We are?” said Flare.
“But of course. You are the Elemental guardians after all.” said Lunara.
“Right.” said Flare. She then pulled out her phone to check the time. “It’s getting late. We should probably be getting back. We need to be up early for school.” Celestia and Lunara then opened up a portal back to earth.
That night, Flare had yet another dream about Fire. Lately Flare had been having dreams that seemed to be memories of the first fire guardian, Fire. This time is was when Fire met the dragon of fire. The dragon had scales that looked like flames when they were in the sunlight. Suddenly, the dragon let out a loud roar and then lifted its sharp talons. They then slashed at Fire and she let out a scream of pain.
Flare awoke with a jolt. She then started rubbing her eyes. She then looked over at her clock. It read 6:00am. Flare then slid the covers off her and sat on the edge of her bed. She then stretched out her arms and got up. First she got on her favorite black sleeveless dress that had sashes of yellow around her waist. Hanging from her neck was her elemental fire necklace. Flare then brushed out her long brown hair and then put it up in a ponytail. Flare then went down stairs to the kitchen to get breakfast. She decided to have a bowl of cereal. When she was done eating, she then went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Flare then looked at herself in the mirror for the first time and she gasped. She almost choked on her toothpaste. She then spit out the toothpaste in her mouth and looked at herself in the mirror again. Instead of her normal eyes, she had her dragon eyes.
“Flash!” screamed Flare. The door then flung open and Flash was suddenly standing in the doorway.
“What?!” exclaimed Flash. “What happened?!”
“Something’s wrong!” exclaimed Flare. Flash then gasped as she turned to face him. She had her dragon eyes.
“What happened to your eyes?” asked Flash.
“I don’t know what happened!” exclaimed Flare. “I just want them to go away!”
“Well I don’t know what to do!” said Flash. “Maybe Shadow can help.”
“I hope so.” said Flare. “But I can’t go to school with my eyes like this!”
“Just put some glasses on or something.” said Flash.
When the two of them then got to school, Flare found AJ, Vortex, and Shadow in her first hour class. Flare then rushed over to them.
“Hey Flare, what with the glasses?” asked Vortex. Flare just growled at him. She then turned her attention to Shadow.
“I need your help.” said Flare.
“Why? What’s wrong?” asked Shadow.
“It’s my eyes.” said Flare. She then slowly pulled the glasses away from her face. The three of them then gasped. “They’re stuck in their dragon form and won’t go away!”
“Well, have you tried transforming them back?” asked AJ.
“Yes, but I just woke up this morning and they were like this!” said Flare.
“How could this have happened?” asked Vortex.
“I don’t know!” exclaimed Flare. She was now starting to panic.
“Hey, the best thing to do right now is not panic.” said Shadow. “We can always just ask Celestia how to change them back. Don’t you have the book that she gave you?” Flare then started to calm down a little bit.
“Of course I have it.” said Flare. She then pulled the book out of her bag. “I never go anywhere without it anymore.”
“Class, please have a seat.” said the teacher.
“We can talk more at lunch.” whispered AJ.
“But in the meantime….” said Shadow. He then picked up Flare’s glasses and gave them back to her. “I think it would be best to keep these on.” Flare then placed her glasses back on her face. She did her best to concentrate until lunch but she couldn’t. All she could think about was her eyes. What was going on? Why had her eyes suddenly transformed on their own? Were they going to be stuck like this? There were so many questions that Flare wanted to ask but she had to wait until lunch to do so.
After four long classes, it was finally time for lunch. Flare sat with her five friends. She explained to them her situation with her eyes.
“Are they stuck like that?” asked Luna.
“I don’t know. I don’t even know how to change them back!” said Flare.
“Well like I said, try asking Celestia.” said Shadow. “She might at least know how to change them back.”
“I wrote to her during third hour when I had choir but she still hasn’t written back yet.” said Flare.
A little while latter into the day, school was finally over. Flare went with AJ and Luna to her locker.
“Still no answer?” asked AJ. Flare just shook her head.
“I’ve sent her five messages and she still doesn’t respond.” said Flare.
“You have to remember that she the queen of the Elemental Kingdom. She can’t just drop everything and come help us with a small problem like this.” said Luna.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” said Flare. She then closed her locker and the three of them then started to make their way to the exit. Waiting for them were the boys.
“Ready to go?’ asked Shadow.
“Yeah, I just hope Celestia can fix my eyes.” said Flare.
“We probably shouldn’t open a portal here.” said Flash. “Somebody might see us.”
“I say we open a portal at the temple.” said Vortex. “That way we’ll be sure no one will see us.”
“Oh, can we fly to the temple?!” exclaimed Luna.
“We’d have to hide somewhere to transform.” said Flash.
“We can always go to the back of the school.” said AJ.
“Let’s go.” said Vortex. They all then went to the back of the school to transform into their dragon forms. In waves of light they all transformed. All except Flare.
“What’s wrong?” asked Flash.
“I….I can’t transform!” gasped Flare.
“What?!” exclaimed AJ.
“It’s not working!’ exclaimed Flare.
“We can’t stay here much longer.” said Vortex. “Someone might see us.”
“Well how am I going to get to the temple with you guys?” asked Flare.
Suddenly a door from the school started to open. They all then took to the skies. Flare had closed her eyes as the door started to open. When she opened them, she saw that she was millions of feet above the ground. She looked up to see that she was in Shadow’s arms.
“Nice save.” said Flare. Shadow just smiled at her in return.
When they all got to the temple, they were surprised to see Celestia and Lunara standing there.
“What are you two doing here?” asked Vortex.
“I came as soon as I heard about what happened.” said Celestia. She then rushed over to Flare just as Shadow was putting her down. She took off the glasses and stared in confusion. “How did this happen?” asked Celestia.
“I don’t know.” said Flare. “I just woke up this morning and they were like this.”
“Do you know what going on?” asked AJ.
“No, I’m sorry.” said Celestia.
“Do you at least know how to change them back?” asked Flare.
“No….” said Celestia.
“Wait a minute….” said Shadow. “Didn’t you say that whatever happens to the elemental dragons also happens to them.”
“Yes.” said Celestia. “Wait, you don’t think?”
“You know it could be possible.” said Lunara.
“Then we need to find the fire dragon now!” said Celestia.
“Then let’s go!” said Flare. Celestia and Lunara then opened up a portal to their world. When they were all through they found themselves in the palace.
“Aurora!” called Celestia. In a flash of pink light, Aurora suddenly appeared. Celestia was about to speak when Aurora lifted her hand to silence her.
“I know the fire dragon is in danger.” said Aurora. “Yesterday, these people came to me demanding that I tell them the location of the elemental dragons. When I refused them what they seeked they attacked. They had used some sort of spell that knocked me out. When I had come to I found that they had stolen the scales that I use to know the locations of the elemental dragons.”
“What did they look like?” asked Vortex. Aurora then turned and waved her hand in front of her and five figures suddenly appeared. Two males and one female. The girl had short black hair tied back in a ponytail and she had white at the tips of her bangs which came down over her left eye. She had a scar on her right eye. She wore a brown leather like strapless top and she had on long black pants with a bright blood red belt with a dragon tooth at the waist. It could be seen that the two boys were twins for everything about them was the same. The only difference was that one had black hair with white tipped bangs and the other had white hair with black tipped bangs.
“Who are they?” asked Luna.
“The Dragon Slayers.” said Lunara.
“The who?” said Flash.
“The Dragon Slayers were a group of people that killed for pleasure.” said Shadow.
“When the nightmares took control of me I went to them and asked them to join me.” said Lunara. “I tried to convince them by telling them about the Elemental dragons but what I didn’t tell them was how to find them.” Lunara then tried to blink her tears away. “I guess they found that part out on their own.
“The leader of the three of them is Alex.” said Shadow motioning to the girl. “The other two are her little flunkies, Zach and Max.”
“Well why did only the three of them attack?” asked Vortex.
“These are all that’s left of the Dragon Slayers.” said Aurora.
“How can you tell?” asked Luna.
“I could feel that these three possessed a strange aura that I had never felt before.” said Aurora. “Judging by how weak it was I can but assume that they are all that’s left. To my knowledge, most of them left the Dragon Slayers when the nightmares were defeated.”
“So if what you say is true then that must mean that they’re now going after the dragon of fire.” said Flash.
“That must be why my eyes are stuck like this.” said Flare. “And even though I can’t transform at least I can still use my powers.”
“Yeah, but I don’t know how much longer you can.” said Lunara.
“What do you mean?” asked AJ.
“Well, like we said before if something happens to the elemental dragons, we’re also affected which means if something happens to them we might not have our powers anymore.” said Lunara.
“Then we better hurry and find the dragon of fire!” said Vortex.
“But how are we even going to find it?” said Luna. “We don’t even know where to find this fire dragon.”
“Actually you do have a way to find each of your Elemental Dragons.” said Aurora.
“Really?” said Flash.
“The reason you all can transform into a dragon form is because each of you is connected to your own dragon.” said Aurora. She then turned to face Flare. “The power to find the Elemental dragon of fire is inside of you. You just need to feel it.” Flare then nodded and closed her eyes. She then grabbed her necklace.
“Come on.” Flare said to herself. “I know you’re out there.” her necklace then started to glow in a bright red. Flare then started to hear a roar but it was soft. Flare then started to feel some sort of pain. “I can feel that you’re in pain, and I want to help. I just need you to tell me where you are so I can save you.” Flare’s eyes then flashed open. A white spark then flashed in Flare’s eyes. “I know where to go.” said Flare.
“Okay; me, Lunara and Aurora will stay here while you six go find the fire dragon.” said Celestia. Everyone then nodded and the six friends then took to the skies. Shadow carried Flare while she pointed the way.
Two hours latter, the six of them were starting to come to a mountain.
“Man, it feels like we’ve been flying forever.” said Luna. “Are we even getting close?” Flare then looked down at her necklace as it then started to glow.
“Yeah, I think so.” said Flash.
“There!’ exclaimed Flare as she pointed to the mountain.
“Really?” said Luna. “Okay.” They all then turned and started circling the mountain to find a place to land. They then came across a flat part on a cliff and decided to land there. “Well, where to now?” asked Luna. Flare then looked down at her necklace as it then started to lift up in front of her. It was almost as if it wanted her to follow it. Flare then grabbed the chain as her necklace then started pulling her.
“It’s this way.” said Flare. She then pointed down a path along the side of the mountain. Everyone then nodded and ran after Flare as she and her necklace led the way.
As they were running down the path they then suddenly heard a loud roar.
“That sounded like….” said Flash.
“A dragon!” gasped Flare. They then started running down the path once again until they suddenly came to a clearing. In the clearing were three people, two boys and one girl, and they seemed to be trying to trap this creature. Flare then gasped as she saw that the creature they were trying to trap was a dragon.
“More ropes!” exclaimed the girl.
“Yes ma’am!” said one of the boys. He then made more ropes appear out of nowhere and wrap around the dragon.
“Arg, hey Zach!” called the girl. “We need to tranquilize this thing now!” The white haired boy then made a bow and arrow appear in his hands.
“With pleasure.” said Zach. He then lifted his bow and drew back the arrow. He then let go of the arrow as it flew through the air aimed right at the big red dragon. It was just about to hit when suddenly a bright red fire shield appeared in the way of the arrow. When the arrow hit the shield it instantly disappeared. “What?!” gasped Zach..
“What going on?!” yelled the girl. “I thought I told you to tranq it!”
“It’s not my fault!” exclaimed Zach. The dragon then let out a loud roar. The girl and the second boy then leaped into the air to stand beside Zach. The girl then looked down at the fire shield in front of them.
“Where did that come from?!” demanded the girl.
A blast of lightning then came out of nowhere and caused the three of them to move backwards. The girl then looked up just in time to see four people come to fly in front of the fire shield. They all had dragon wings. Somebody then stepped out to stand in front of the three of them. The girl then looked closely at the necklace around her neck. The girl then laughed as she got back to her feet.
“So, the Elemental guardians.” said the girl. “I was wondering when you were going to show up.”
“Stop whatever it is that you’re doing and hand over the dragon scales!” demanded Flare.
“Oh please.” said the girl. She then made a black scythe appear in her hands. “Like I would ever do that.” She then rushed at Flare and lifted the scythe to strike. A dark figure then appeared and created a shield of darkness to protect Flare. “What?!” gasped the girl. The shield then disappeared and the figure stood up.
“Thanks Shadow.” said Flare.
“Shadow?!” gasped the girl. The girl then smiled evilly. “You know. To be honest it’s kind of good to see you again.” said the girl.
“The feeling isn’t mutual.” said Shadow. “Alex.”
“Humph, now if you’ll excuse me I have a dragon to slay.” said Alex.
“No you don’t!” exclaimed Flare.
“Aw, the guardian of fire.” said Alex. “It’s been a while, did something change. You seem to look different.” said Alex sarcastically. Flare just tensed up even more. Her friends then flew to hover beside her and Shadow. “And the other Elemental guardians how wonderful.” said Alex. “You know, I’ve always wondered what would happen if something happened to the Elemental dragons.” Alex then turned to the second boy with black hair. “Max, why don’t you show them.”
“With pleasure.” said Max. He then made a black sword appear in his hand. He then leaped into the air and landed on top of the dragon. He then lifted the sword ready to plunge it into the giant body of the beast. He then let out a cry and gripped his hand as a bolt of lightning hit his hand causing his sword to vanish.
“Not while we’re here.” said Flash. He then appeared in the air in front of Max along with Luna, AJ, and Vortex.
“Well, this is going to be interesting.” said Max. Zach then appeared beside him.
“Shall we?” asked Zach. Max then nodded and the two of them made swords appear in their hands and they then attacked the guardians.
Meanwhile, Flare and Shadow were battling it out with Alex. She swung at them with her scythe but the were able to dodge it every time but she could tell that they were slowing down.
“You can’t keep dodging forever!” exclaimed Alex. She still continued to swing at them “It’s only a matter of time until….” She let out a cry of pain as she was then struck in the back by a blast of fire mixed with darkness. As her scythe hit the ground it vanished. As she tried to catch her breath she then looked up to see Flare and Shadow moving towards her. She pulled out the scale of the dragon that she had stolen from Aurora. “One more step and I destroy it.” said Alex. Shadow then held out his arm to stop Flare.
“So what, it’s just one scale.” said Flare. “The dragon has plenty of them.”
“That may be so but have you ever wondered why Aurora kept this specific scale.” said Alex. Flare just stood there confused, but Shadow knew exactly why Aurora protected this specific scale. “That because she enchanted it.” said Alex. “The enchantment on this scale turns it into a heart for not only the Elemental dragon that it belongs to but also the Elemental guardian of that dragon.” She then started applying pressure on the scale. As she did, the dragon let out a loud roar of pain. Flare also let out a sharp cry of pain. She then started to fall to the ground but before she could hit the ground Shadow caught her.
“Flare!” exclaimed Shadow. He then turned to Alex. She still had an evil smile on her face. “Stop it!” demanded Shadow.
“Why? Why would I stop now when I am so close to finally bringing down the Elemental guardians?” said Alex. “I’ve been searching for a way to destroy them and now I found a way to not only destroy them but to wipe them out of existence!”
“What?!” gasped Shadow.
“You really don’t know, do you?” said Alex. “If the Elemental dragon is destroyed then so is the Elemental gem of that guardian and then that guardian will cease to exist.” She then started to crush the scale even more. Flare and the dragon then let out cries of pain yet again. Alex continued to crush the scale when suddenly a blast of water shot her in the back causing her to drop the scale. A gust of wind then lifted the scale up into the air. Luna then flew by and caught the scale.
“That seemed almost too close for comfort.” said Luna. She and AJ then flew down to Flare and Shadow. “You okay?”
“Yeah, I think so.” said Flare as Shadow helped her back to her feet. “Where are the boys?”
“They’re keeping their eyes on those other two.” said Luna. “You know I really think you should have this.” She then started to hand the red dragon scale to Flare when suddenly Alex come at her from behind. Alex uses her scythe to drag Luna backwards. The scale was then flung up into the air. Flare jumped up into the air to catch the scale but Ale now had her friend. She looked to see that Alex now had her scythe against Luna’s throat.
“Let her go!” said Flare.
“Humph, you want to know what great about you all being half dragon?” said Alex. She then started to press in the spot where Luna’s wings were attached to her back. Alex then let go of Luna and she fell to the ground unconcious. The three friends then gasped. “You gain the same weak spots as actual dragons.” said Alex. AJ and Shadow then started running at Alex as she started walking towards them. Alex was then able to mavuver around them and hit the same spot between their wings and they fell to the ground unconcious. She then started making her way towards Flare.
“Wha….what ever you did to them you can’t do to me.” said Flare. “I can’t transform so there’s now weak point that you can use.”
“That may be true but there’s other ways to persuade you to hand that scale over.” said Alex. She then snapped her fingers and Zach and Max appeared on either side of her. In each of their hands were Flash and Vortex, unconcious.
“No!’ gasped Flare. She then gripped the scale even tighter as the three of them moved closer to her.
They kept moving towards Flare but she just kept backing away from them until eventually she ran out of cliff. She looked behind her and all that was there was a straight drop down below.
“Nowhere to go.” said Alex. “So just hand it over and I’ll make it as quick and painless as possible.”
“Why would I do that if it’ll only lead to my own death.” said Flare.
“You’re going to die either way the choice is that you can either die quickly or painfully.” said Alex.
She then took one more step towards Flare. Flare forgot that she was at the edge of the cliff and when she she took a step backwards she fell off the cliff. Flare was able to grab the edge of the cliff but standing above her was Alex. Alex then slammed her foot on the hand that Flare had on the cliff. Flare felt a stab of pain travel through her but she did her best not to let it show.
“Last chance.” said Alex. “Give me the scale.”
“Never!” groaned Flare.
“Suit yourself.” said Alex. She then used her foot to push Flare off the cliff. Flare then let out a scream as she plummeted to her death. Flare then started to clutch the red scale close to her heart as she fell.
“Please.” said Flare. She then closed her eyes. “Somebody help me. I beg of you.”
Her necklace then started to glow. Flare then felt herself hit something but it wasn’t the ground. Flare then opened her eyes and saw that she was on the back of a red fiery dragon. Flare couldn’t believe her eyes. Her Elemental dragon had saved her. As the dragon flew through the air it then looked back at Flare. The two of them were eye to eye.
“Thank you.” said Flare.
The dragon must have understood her for the dragon then bowed its head. Flare’s necklace then began to glow. The light then consumed Flare. When the light had faded Flare was now in her dragon form. Flare gasped when she saw herself. She then used her wings and started flying herself. She then flew to the front of her dragon. Flare and her dragon were now just staring at eachother.
“Thank you.” said Flare. “For everything.” The dragon then nudged Flare with it’s nose. Flare then hesitated at first but then placed a hand on the dragon and started to pet it. Its scales were like a snake’s but thicker. Flare laughed.
The dragon then moved away just as an arrow shot between it and Flare. Flare then turned her attention back to the cliff side. Zach had his bow aimed right at Flare and the dragon. Alex and Max were standing on either side of him.
“What are you waiting for?!” yelled Alex. “Shoot them down and get that scale!” Zach then shot another arrow aimed at the dragon. Flare then flew in front of the dragon and create a fire shield.
“I won’t let you hurt anyone!” exclaimed Flare. “Now let’s see how good my archery skills are!” A fiery bow then appeared in Flare’s outstretched hands. A arrow of fire then appeared. Flare aimed it right at the three dragon slayers. The three of them then leaped out of the way.
“Okay, now it’s my turn!” growled Alex. She then closed her eyes to concentrate. “Sword of dragon’s blood, I summon thee!” A bright red sword then appeared in the air above Alex.
“Uh-oh!” said both Max and Zach. The two of them then jumped behind a rock for cover. Alex then let out a yell as the red sword started flying through the air right at Flare.
Flare then created a fire shield to block the sword but the sword just went right through it. Flare then braced herself for the impact when suddenly the dragon let out a huge roar. Fire then shot from the mouth of the dragon at the bright blood sword and it then vanished into thin air.
“What?!” gasped Alex.
“Thank you.” said Flare. “Please, can you help me?” The dragon then let out roar. “I’ll take that as a yes.” The two of them then flew into action. While the dragon handled Alex and her multiple weapons, Flare went to help her friends.
She knelt down beside AJ.
“AJ?” said Flare. “AJ, please….wake up.” Flare then looked down at her necklace. She then realized how to wake her friends up. She then held her hands over her friend and closed her eyes. Her necklace then started to glow. AJ’s did the same. After a few seconds, AJ awoke with a gasp. She then sat up and turned to Flare.
“Flare?” whispered AJ.
“You’re okay!” exclaimed Flare. She then leaped at AJ and hugged her. “I thought you were done for.”
“Flare, you….you can transform again!” gasped AJ.
“My dragon helped me.” said Flare. She then pointed to the big red dragon that was battling with Alex. “Come on let’s help the others.” AJ then nodded and the two of them then started helping their other friends. Flare went to Shadow and Flash while AJ went to Vortex and Luna.
“What happened?” moaned Luna.
“What’s going on?” asked Flash.
“There’s no time to explain but we need to get out of here.” said Flare. They all then turned their attention to the bottom of the cliff as they heard a huge crash. Flare then started to feel a sharp pain in her side.
“What wrong?” asked Luna.
“Look!” called Vortex. At the bottom of the cliff was the fire dragon laying on its side. ALex was standing on top of it with her syth.
“Now to end this!” exclaimed Alex. She then started to lift her syth when suddenly a ball of flames hit the blade. Alex then saw Flare and her friends hovering in front of her. “How did you….you’re supposed to be dead!” exclaimed Alex.
“I guess you underestimated us.” said Flare. “Now, stop this and give us back the scales!”
“You really think I’ll just hand them over that easily?” said Alex. “You half monsters are so dense.” Alex then let out a yell that set off a energy blast that sent Flare and her friends flying against the face of the cliff. As the slid to the ground Alex jumped off the back of the dragon. She then started walking towards Flare. “If I kill the dragon I also kill you but I can’t kill the dragon with you here so….” said Alex. She then raised her syth. As Flare looked up she could see Alex standing before her with her syth raised ready to attack. “I guess I’m going to have to kill you first!” She then started to bring her syth down on Flare when suddenly Alex was thrown to the top of the cliff. Flare then saw what had thrown Alex. It was her dragon. It had thrown Alex with its tail. Flare then ran up to her dragon.
“Thank you for saving me.” said Flare. “Now, let’s defeat this dragon slayer together.” The dragon then nodded and the two of them then flew up into the air.
As Alex pushed herself to her feet, she saw Flare and the dragon flying up into the air. She then growled in anger.
“Ready?” asked Flare. The dragon then let out a small roar. “Now!” exclaimed Flare. Flare’s necklace then started to glow. The dragons red wings then did the same. So did Flare’s wings. The two were then consumed in a fiery light.
“No!” exclaimed Alex.
“Fire Dragon Energy!” yelled Flare. She then launched a big ball of fire straight at Alex.
“What do we do?” asked Zach and Max from behind the rock that they were using to hide.
“Use the fangs.” said Alex. She then removed the with dragon fange that was attached to her red sash at her waist. Zach and Max then removed the fangs from their cloaks. The three of them then lifted them into the air and they were then surrounded in a bright white light. The blast then hit and the whole top of the cliff became covered in fire.
When the fire had finally disappeared, Alex and the twins were gone.
“Where did they go?” asked AJ.
“Wherever they are, at least we saved one of the scales.” said Flare as she and her dragon landed. Flare then turned to her dragon with a smile. “You were a big help but I just glad that you’re now safe.” said Flare. “She can’t hurt you anymore.” The dragon the nudged Flare with its nose to signal thank you. Flare just laughed in delight.
“Wow!” gasped Shadow. “So this is one of the great Elemental Dragons!”
“Is it friendly?” asked AJ. She jumped as she dragon then huffed.
“Of course it is.” said Flare. Her necklace then started to glow and then an aura passed from the necklace to the dragon.
“What’s going on?” asked Luna.
“I don’t know.” said Flare. The aura then disappeared.
“Thank you for protecting me.” the dragon said in a female voice.
“Wha!” screamed Flare. “You….you can talk?”
“Only because of you.” said the dragon. “When you shared your flame with me it granted us the power to understand each other.”
“Might I ask what your name is?” asked Flare.
“My name is Flame.” said the dragon. “I want to thank not only Flare but all of you for saving me from the Dragon Slayers.” Flare then remembered the dragon scale.
“You know, I feel like you should be the one to have this.” said Flare.
She then handed the scale to Flame. Flame then turned so that her side was facing the guardians. Flare then stepped forward and suddenly the scale then started to glow. It then started levitating in the air and it started floating to Flame. The scale then embedded itself among Flame’s other scales.
“You sure it will be fine with you?” asked Flare.
“I promise you, I will protect it with my life.” said Flame.
Everyone then said their goodbyes and they then flew back to the Elemental castle.
“Oh, thank goodness you’re alright!” exclaimed Celestia. “I was starting to get worried.”
“We’re fine.” said Flare.
“And the Elemental Dragon?” asked Aurora. “Is she safe?”
“Don’t worry, Flame is perfectly fine.” said Flare.
“Flame?” asked Aurora.
“Yeah, that’s her name.” said Flare.
“She told us.” said Luna.
“Wait, the dragon spoke to you?!” exclaimed Aurora.
“Yeah, don’t they all do that for you?” asked AJ.
“No….I….” said Aurora. She then took a deep breath. “I’m just so happy to hear that my friend is safe.”
“What about the Dragon Slayers?” asked Lunara.
“Unfortunately they got away.” said Flash.
“But don’t worry.” said Flare. “Wherever they strike next, we’ll be there to stop them.” Everyone then nodded.
That night, everyone had gone back to their homes to sleep. Meanwhile, Aurora met with Celestia in the Elemental Kingdom.
“I get the feeling that these new guardians have a deeper connection with the Elemental Dragon than that of the first guardians.” said Aurora.
“Really?” said Celestia.
“From what Flare told us. She was able to connect with Flame and cast a spell called Fire Dragon Energy.” said Aurora.
“Yes, she said that for a moment it felt like she and Flame had somehow become one.” said Celestia.
“I get the feeling that this connection might be dangerous for them.” said Aurora. “I fear that if they stay together for too long then they will become one forever.”
“Well, so far it’s only happened once so for now we shouldn’t worry about it.” said Celestia. “The dragon slayers are still a threat an as of right now the only ones that can stop them are the Elemental Guardians. They have enough to worry about right now. We shouldn’t burden them with this.”
“As you wish, but we should still keep an eye on them if my theory starts to be proven true.” said Aurora. Celestia then nodded and Aurora left. Celestia just stood there on the balcony looking out over the kingdom. She then looked to the balcony of the North Tower where her sister was raising the moon into the night sky. She then turned to look up at the night sky. She could see all the stars. Celestia then sighed.
“Please not let me lose them again.” whispered Celestia.
