The Arizona Cardinals are a Super Bowl favorite but are not automatic against the spread at home, which builds some intrigue into their NFC divisional playoff matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback Carson Palmer and the Cardinals are listed as 7-point favorites against the Packers for their Saturday clash, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The more rested Cardinals are only 4-2 SU and 1-5 ATS at University of Phoenix Stadium since October. Divisional round favorites are only 5-11 ATS over the last four postseasons.

Green Bay, which is 11-6 SU and 10-7 ATS, is 6-1-1 ATS as underdogs in January since Aaron Rodgers became their quarterback. The Packers are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four games as underdogs against the Cardinals, but lost 38-8 to Arizona just three weeks ago.

The loss of WR Davante Adams (knee) also leaves Rodgers without an asset who is likely to win one-on-one matchups against the Cardinals CB tandem of Patrick Peterson and Chris Harris. Starting WR Randall Cobb and James Jones need favorable matchups to thrive.

The Packers are 0-3 ATS in their last three divisional round games. Their 35-point output in their wild-card win was encouraging, but Washington’s defense is inferior to Arizona at each position group. With LT David Bakhtiari back, the Packers’ run blocking and pass protection should be stronger than it was the last time against Arizona.

Arizona, which is 13-3 SU and 9-7 ATS, is deep at the skill positions. Palmer’s trusted WR trio of John Brown, Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd are facing a good group of Green Bay linebackers and defensive backs, but their speed deters defenses from committing heavily to run support. Rookie RB David Johnson has a chance for a big day. The Packers have allowed an average of 127.5 rushing yards in their last six games.

The Cardinals are 5-2 SU and ATS in their last seven January home games. Pass rush specialists Jason Babin and Dwight Freeney also had big days in the first matchup against Green Bay three weeks ago.

The total for Saturday’s Packers vs. Cardinals betting matchup is set at 50 points at the sportsbooks. The total has gone UNDER in five of the last seven Packers-Cardinals games. The total has also gone UNDER in both 10 of the Packers’ last 14 games and five of the Cardinals’ last six games.

The OddsShark Computer is projecting a 27.9-16.1 Cardinals victory.
