A trio of characters from the Slayers comic fantasy franchise will be joining the cast of the Granblue Fantasy smart phone game for a special cross-promotional event in January of 2016. For a limited time, Naga the White Serpent, Lina Inverse, and Gourry Gabriev will be available as guest characters for the “Slayers Magna” version of the “Decisive Battle! Star of the Ancient Battlefield” in-game event.
Slayers is a comic fantasy franchise that began as a series of light novels written by Hajime Kanzaka and illustrated by Rui Araizumi. The series stars Lina Inverse – a brash, ill-tempered, and extremely powerful sorceress – and her companions as they adventure in search of treasure and fame. Since its initial publication in 1989, the series has spawned 5 TV anime series, 5 films, 2 sets of OAVs, 9 manga adaptations, and numerous other properties such as video games and radio dramas.
Granblue Fantasy is an RPG for Android and iOS smart phones developed by Cygames and released on the Mobage platform in 2013. The series often collaborates with other pop culture properties, such as Street Fighter and The IdolM@ster Cinderella Girls.
More information about the upcoming Slayers x Granblue Fantasy collaboration will be released on January 18, 2016.
